EARLY READING

AGES 3 to 5 YEARS

STEM Tech Neighborhood Academy's Early Reading program serves children, ages three to five years old, with reading and phonics learning opportunities.

Primarily using LeapFrog tools, children and parents have the opportunity to take these STEM Tech resources home to study, or sit in the community center and practice their reading skills with STEM Tech volunteers.

Learn more about childhood cognitive development and quality resources for every stage of early learning here.

The STEM Tech Early Reading resources corner displays all of the tools available to children and parents when they arrive at the center.

Items include but are not limited to:
LeapFrog LeapReader kits, novels, children's books, tablets with children's learning apps, flashcards, speak-and-sound synthesizers, and interactive vocabulary books.

REMOTE EARLY READING FOR STEM TECH STUDENTS

The importance of parents participating in early reading for children continues to be a priority for STEM Tech, and with the current CDC guidelines for social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, offering options for at-home learning is now a crucial part of STEM Tech's Early Reading program. With many parents finding it difficult to fulfill at-home learning needs for their children, STEM Tech's program
provides remote early reading tutoring for its students via volunteers.

The video below is an example of how STEM Tech's early reading tools are used by volunteers and tutors in this capacity.
